“…God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.”
It’s amazing how simple the gospel message is, yet deep at the same time.
Why does the church complicate everything?
There is a way to grow spiritually
We need to understand the faith and so familiarize ourselves with the Scriptures. It is not necessary to know every detail of the Bible, but it is good to have an overview so you can see God’s plan from beginning to end.
Find a way to get a general understanding of the Bible from beginning to end. From the Book of Genesis (the first book in the Bible ) to Revelation (the last book in the Bible).
If you do this, Christianity will make sense to you and it will be easier for you to believe and follow Jesus Christ. You can read the Bible, watch the Bible through movies, or follow one of the resources online.
The Bible Project is a good place to start for anyone who would like to do this.
But, for those of us who are believers already and wish to live out our Christian lives with peace, love, and joy every day, we must keep it simple.
Jesus summed up all the commandments into one commandment:
“Teacher, which commandment is the greatest in the Law?” Jesus declared, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. “This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
So, to live and walk in the light of God is to live in love. ‘God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.’ (1 John 4:16)
We are to live this way. John who was a disciple of Jesus Christ writes in 1 John 3 that we should love one another.
If we do not love one another then God is not in us. We are to choose good over evil and not to be like Cain who killed his brother Able.
“Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous.”
This is our calling, to obey the commands of Jesus. We can study the Bible and all kinds of Theology and Spirituality, but if we do not believe in the name of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, then we do not have the Spirit of God living in us and are wasting our time.
“Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.”
Beautiful beautiful
Amen!
